2025 College Captains
We are excited and proud to introduce our 2025 College Captains.
Aarushi, Zac, Hasini and Angus are ready to roll for 2025 – but before we head off on our school holidays, let’s find out a bit more about them.
Aarushi
What subjects are you studying in Year 12? What are your aspirations beyond Year 12?
As a Year 12 student at Glen Eira College, I am studying a mix of subjects that challenge and inspire me, including Psychology, Biology, English Language, General Maths and Japanese. Beyond Year 12, I aspire to travel around the world and pursue a career in psychology.
What's your favourite thing about being at Glen Eira College?
What I love most about being at Glen Eira College is the strong sense of community and the supportive environment created by the teachers that encourages everyone to achieve their best.
What are you most looking forward to about being school captain?
I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to serve as school captain, where I hope to lead with approachability, inclusivity and wanting to inspire others, as well as leave a lasting positive mark on the school by working with leaders, teachers and students.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
If I could have one superpower, it would be creation because as it says in the name, I can create anything from Eminem and Kanye West on a unicorn to homes and food for the people that need it most.
What's your message for the Glen Eira College community next year?
My message to the Glen Eira College community for next year is to embrace every opportunity, support each other, and remember that every small effort can lead to extraordinary achievements. Most importantly, please don't be afraid to approach me :)
Zach
What subjects are you studying in Year 12? What are your aspirations beyond Year 12?
A massive English and languages buff, I’m studying English Language, Literature, French, History and University Japanese next year (I completed Year 12 Japanese in November). They are my life’s passions, and I cannot wait for all they will bring, whether that be studying semantic patterning or reading Dracula.
I would love to study journalism at Melbourne University and one day become a journalist, either hosting the 6 o’clock news at the ABC or working overseas as a foreign correspondent. Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by the hustle-bustle of the journalism world - researching, reporting, interviewing, and even speaking in the ‘news voice’.
What's your favourite thing about being at Glen Eira College?
The community one hundred percent. I am truly grateful for every aspect of it: my supportive friends, the wonderful teachers and staff, the entire student body who are both kind and incredibly talented, and the lovely parents I have had the privilege of meeting at information nights. All of these serve as a reminder of how connected and convivial our whole school community is.
What are you most looking forward to about being school captain?
I am looking forward to so many things about being school captain, but perhaps the most special one is working with my fellow captains - a true ‘dream team’. Collaborating together to make speeches, meet new people, represent the school, and ensure students’ voices are heard is such an exciting prospect for me.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
Being able to speak every language in the world. Wouldn’t it be so idyllic to have thrilling conversations with locals in their own language on every overseas trip? I know it would be a dream come true for the budding linguist in me.
What's your message for the Glen Eira College community next year?
I would like to tell every student to remember that you will always be valued, heard, and respected at Glen Eira College. I - and my fellow captains - will work incredibly hard next year to make sure even more of your achievements are recognised and your student voice is as strong as ever.
Angus
What subjects are you studying in Year 12? What are your aspirations beyond Year 12?
Hi everyone, I'm Angus McNeill and this year I am studying Biology, Chemistry, English, Maths Methods and Japanese. After my exams, I would like to take a gap year after year 12 and figure out what university course I want to do.
What's your favourite thing about being at Glen Eira College? What are you most looking forward to about being school captain?
I have my sights set on encouraging everyone to participate in the great events and activities like the cat club's 'match the cat to the teacher' and the breakfast club's multicultural breakfasts. I love these activities and I can't wait to help organise some of those activities, and encourage student participation around the school.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
If I could have a superpower, I would love to be able to pre-emptively see around corners. I have run, or nearly run into many people rushing around corners, so this power would save me many embarrassed apologies.
What's your message for the Glen Eira College community next year?
The holidays are coming up soon, so put your feet up over the holidays, and get some rest, but don't procrastinate your homework too much because it will sneak up on you.
Hasini
What subjects are you studying in Year 12? What are your aspirations beyond Year 12?
I am studying Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and Business Management.
My dream is to become a Dentist.
What's your favourite thing about being at Glen Eira College?
My favourite thing about being at GEC is that I get to learn new things with my peers.
What are you most looking forward to about being school captain?
Planning new ideas and working together with my co-captains.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
If I could have one superpower, I would choose the ability to teleport because then I can travel the world and see new places easily and with zero cost.
What's your message for the Glen Eira College community next year?
Thank you for electing me as one of your 2025 School Captain, I and my co-captains will work hard next year and we will try our best to be the best captains we can be and to fulfil as many goals as we can. Once again Thank You.
