School Highlights

Year 1 Legoland excursion

Esther Linivker, Year 1 Classroom Teacher

On Friday 5 September, Year 1s went on an exciting trip to Legoland at Chadstone. We were all super excited to get on the bus and start our adventure!

When we arrived, Legoland was still closed, so we had a snack while we waited to check in. Then, Molly, our Legoland host, took us through to the workshop room where we used our creativity to build a special dog obstacle course. She was extremely impressed with our designs, and even asked the Lego Master to come and see what we had created!

Next, it was time to jump on the Kingdom Quest Ride to save the princess and the golden dragon. This was a favourite among many Years 1 students!

We then explored Mini-Figure Land, where we saw many of Melbourne’s unique buildings made out of Lego, including Luna Park, the MCG and Sea Life, just to name a few. The students loved exploring this area from different angles and were hopefully inspired for their future Lego building experiences happening in Term 4.

The fun continued with Merlin’s Apprentice - where if you wanted to fly, you had to pedal as fast as you could! This was a highlight for everyone.

After a quick lunch break and some playtime in the soft play area, we experienced the 4D Lego movie – complete with some surprise splashes!

Our final activities included free-play Lego building in areas such as the underwater zone, test-and-build car creations, and building towers to withstand tremors.

Unfortunately, our time at Legoland had to come to an end, and it was time to hop back on the bus and return to School.

Thank you to the parent helpers for joining us! We hope you had fun too!

We asked our students what they enjoyed most. Here are some of their comments:

  • Ariah – I loved Merlin’s Apprentice because when you get high, you can see everything in Legoland.
  • Leo – I loved the movie because we all got a little bit wet!
  • Lucas Q – I loved Merlin’s Apprentice because I got to pedal.
  • Willow – I liked the movie because it was 4D and it looked like it was coming right to you!
  • Charlotte – I loved the Kingdom Quest Ride the best!
  • Liam – I loved the workshop because we got to make fun dog obstacle courses and test them out.
  • Arie – I loved Merlin’s Apprentice because I like going high in the air and going around and around.

Lift with Laughter Day

Yesterday, our community came together for 'Lift with Laughter Day' – a celebration reminding us of the importance of connection, kindness and the power of a good laugh to brighten someone’s day.

From sunrise Laughter Yoga, to Zumba and energetic live music at lunchtime, to sharing smiles across campus, students and staff embraced the message that small moments of joy can make a big difference.

A special highlight was hearing from guest speaker, comedy writer Declan Fay, who inspired us to use humour and storytelling as tools for wellbeing.

Huge thanks to our student committee for their hard work in bringing this day to life, and to everyone who joined in with their bright accessories, positivity and laughter.

At Kilvington, we’re proud to support the message of R U OK? Day - a reminder to check in, listen and lift each other up.
