Performing Arts

Welcome to Performing Arts 2025! This year Ms Fellowes will teach Prep and Year 1, while Ms Stoddart will teach Years 2 to 6. It’s been lovely to see all the smiling faces and beautiful voices in our lessons this week. 

This term students in years Prep to 2 will be learning a variety of songs, chants and rhythms. Students will learn action songs and rhymes using body percussion. If your child learns an instrument already, they may like to perform for the class later in the term.

Students in years 3 to 6 will be learning to play the ukulele. We are very lucky at HPS to own a very colourful class set of ukuleles. Students will be learning to play chords, songs and strum a steady beat while playing. Year 5 and 6 students will refine their skills and learn some new strumming patterns. 

Across all year levels there will be opportunities throughout the year for students to rehearse and compose songs in groups and to perform music for their class. 

Performing Arts Notice Board 

• All bands will start back this week with Symphonic Band on Wednesday morning before school, Concert Band on Thursday and Novice Band will have their very first rehearsal this Friday. We are very excited to welcome 30 new beginner students to the Novice Band. 
• HPS Choir will also begin soon and will be open to all students in years 3 to 6. More information will be communicated about this shortly on compass.
