Captains Corner

For each newsletter in 2025, the four School Captains: Anvita, Sham, Ethan and Mann will prepare something to share with you all. This will be included on their page 'Captains Corner'.

In this weeks Captains Corner, the Captains introduce themselves and offer you a chance to get to know them better. If you have any questions for them, please approach them in the yard or you could even see them after assembly.

Anvita - 6D

Hey! My name is Anvita and I’m one of the School Captains of 2025. There are so many things I want to share to you all, but first let me introduce myself. I’m eleven years old, I have a sister named Elisha who is in Year 3, I like and play soccer.

Why did I apply to become a school captain?

I applied to become a school captain because I believe I have good leadership skills I want to practice for the future. It is a great opportunity for me, and I also want to build up my confidence in public speaking.

How did I feel when I got chosen to be school captain?

I felt really shocked and happy when my name was called up, after weeks of suspense! I felt really excited to be start the new year as a leader and role model.

What are a few things the school community should know about?

I feel like everyone knows a lot about me because they’ve seen me in Production and assemblies but a few things the school community should know about me is that I am a friendly and kind person (described by my friends). I am also really funny and love to make people laugh

What did I do in the school holidays?

I did not do a lot in my school holidays but the most fun thing I did was a 3 day and 2-night trip to Grampians national park. It was a 3-hour drive from my home to the motel. Since our motel was in the forest, we saw a lot of kangaroos! In fact, we saw so many it got to a point that we heard them screaming in the middle of the night. Apart from that we also did hiking and mountain climbing. We saw a lot of beautiful views and we also visited a waterfall, since it was a really hot day. We played in the water when we went there.

What do I like to do in my free time?

In my free time, I like doing a lot of stuff, but some of the stuff I like doing is either reacting to horror games (the most recent one I reacted to was Poppy Playtime chapter 3 and 4)  and doing random dances for no reason.

Sham - 6D

Hello everyone! My name is Sham and I am one of the 2025 School Captains. Here are a few things about my application process for school captain and getting chosen for the role:

Why did you apply to be school captain?

I decided to give school captain a shot because it seemed like a fun experience to practice my leadership skills and practice talking to crowds.

How did you feel when you got the role of school captain?

To be honest I was caught up in the moment and didn’t fully process actually getting school captain until I got my badge. At the moment I was handed my badge I felt exhilarated and determined to be the best school captain HPS has ever seen!

What should the HPS community know about you?

I am apart of a family of five and have 2 siblings (age 6 and 14) one of them is in year one while the other is in year nine. I was born in Saudi Arabia but am from Syria. I love eating food and exploring different cuisines but also like staying home and relaxing. I am a TOTAL extrovert and love talking for hours and hours.

What do you enjoy doing in you free time?

Whenever I’m not at school or extra curriculars I love going camping with friends and family. I also enjoy shopping and eating out! I also like staying home and sleeping as well.
