OFFICE NEWS

Accessing the School Saving Bonus

Parents and carers of students enrolled at a government school for 2025 will access their School Saving Bonus via an email sent from the Department of Education.

The Department of Education and the Victorian Government will never ask you to provide your banking or financial details for the School Saving Bonus.

A School Saving Bonus email will be sent per child, so parents and carers with multiple children will get an email for each child in their family. The emails may arrive at different times.

The email contains a unique code for the $400 bonus and access to the School Saving Bonus online system.

To learn more about the School Saving Bonus online system, download the step-by-step user guide (DOCX, 945KB) or watch this videoUser guide translations are also available in 14 languages.

Please check junk or spam folders for this email. For enquiries, please use the School Saving Bonus enquiry form.

Please note that a small number of emails have not been delivered successfully, and the Department of Education are working to get these resent.

Allocating the school saving bonus

Families can choose how they allocate and spend the School Saving Bonus funds using the online system. The School Saving Bonus can be used towards 2025 school costs, which for Greenhills PS are:

Uniform or School activities.

The school bonus has been allocated to family accounts, but it cannot be accessed until you have logged onto the online system to choose how you will use it.

If any amount is unspent as at 1 July 2025, it will automatically become a school activities credit for you to use through your school. This will help cover the cost of things like excursions and camps.

Families who do not want to use the School Saving Bonus can elect to provide this money to their school for use by other students needing support.

Unsure how to make a 2025 Parent Contribution?  Here’s how……

1.Login to your Compass portal (mobile app or web) and view your home page. When parent contributions are available to pay, a notification will appear here. You can also click on the shortcuts button and select pay for an event.

2. Selecting this link will redirect you to your Course Confirmations/Payments page. Simply click on 2025 Family Contributions to begin the payments process and click on “Continue”.

3. You will be Presented with a list of contributions, all contributions listed are amendable, simply type in the amount you would like to pay or click on “remove” not to include it on this payment.

4. Review your payment summary, and fill-in your Credit Card details.

5. Click Pay Now for the payment to be processed.

6. You will be able to enter the payments centre as many times as you like, enabling you to choose what you would like to pay.

Friendly Note: Currently, only VISA or MasterCard payments are accepted by Compass.

If you are having any problems/issues, please don’t hesitate to contact the office team for help.

UNEXPLAINED ABSENSES

We ask all families to please check Compass (Home Page, see attached) and explain with a note as to why the student was absent (eg; Medical, Medical Appointment, Family Holiday).

Absence days will be reported on Student Reports this Semester.

We ask that you enter future full day absences on the day or leading up to the day, otherwise if you receive an email with an unexplained absence, you can click the link in the email to explain.

If you have any discrepancies please contact the office to rectify. Remember that long term absences need to be put in writing to james.penson@education.vic.gov.au

YEAR 6 FAMILIES

As students leave Greenhills (either in Year 6 or earlier) their Compass profile is no longer visible to you.  Please ensure that Reports are either printed or saved for your future reference.
