Karuta Competition

Last Thursday, 12 students represented Buninyong Primary School at a local Karuta competition against several other Ballarat schools that also study Japanese. Karuta is a Japanese card game and in this version, teams of four race to identify and grab a hiragana card before their opponents. Our students showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event and had an incredibly successful day. Buninyong placed second overall (by a narrow margin) and our White Team scored the most cards in their section of the draw.
