The Grade 5s have done an outstanding job getting through assessment weeks—what a hard-working group! After the whirlwind of assessments, we’re back into the rhythm of our regular timetable, and there’s still so much exciting learning happening.
In Reading, we’re honing our research skills to support our writing. We're currently working on creating an information report about a new virus of our own invention. The Grade 5s have been coming up with bizarre and creative symptoms for their viruses, and they’ve been using clever, well-crafted sentences to describe them in fascinating ways!
In Numeracy, we’re revisiting the concept of time. We’re exploring this in a fun and engaging way by navigating through story-based time challenges. It’s a wonderful way to bring real-life application to the topic!
A special shout-out goes to 5Ds Rory A, who recently cut off his luscious locks to donate to a very special cause! Rory’s hair will be sent to Wigs for Kids, where it will be crafted into bespoke wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer. His generosity is truly inspiring! You can find more about this heartwarming initiative and how to support it here.
With only three weeks left of the school year, we’re all feeling a bit tired, but the Grade 5s continue to put in an amazing effort. Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!

The excitement is building as we move closer to the big transition, and our students are already showing incredible growth and readiness for the next chapter. With just a few weeks to go, we’re making the most of every moment, preparing them for what lies ahead. Stay tuned for more updates and celebrations as we head towards the finish line.
Last week we had 20 year 6s head to Maryborough for Energy Breakthrough. Congratulations to all involved in what were testing conditions to ride in due to the heat. It was an outstanding effort by all.
