Learning Community 3

5/6 Glenys Howard and Leanne Pettigrove

As the school year winds down, teachers have been incorporating fun and engaging activities to celebrate students' hard work and create lasting memories.

Last Tuesday students enjoyed a woodworking session with Anatoli from Craft Power, where they had an opportunity to develop basic hands on wood working skills through the use of tools such as junior coping saws, hammers and pliers to build a Dragster car.

The Year 5/6 performances of Frankenstein and Sleepy Hollow at our Open afternoon and Xmas BBQ, was a thrilling and creative success, showcasing the students' talent and teamwork in two timeless gothic tales. The decision to stage these classic stories was ambitious, but the young performers rose to the challenge, delivering a memorable afternoon of entertainment.

The whole school Christmas door decoration competition was a fantastic way to spark creativity, teamwork, and the festive spirit! Both 5/6H and 5/6P are very proud of the displays they created.

On Monday, students across the school raised money for the "Wheelchairs for kids" program, participating in Wheels day. Wheelchairs for Kids is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organisation providing the transformative gift of mobility to children in impoverished and under resourced communities both in Australia and around the globe. This fun and worthwhile activity kicked off the 3-day Bike Ed program for Year 5/6 students.
