Art Space

Welcome to all students, parents and guardians. We’re really looking forward to a fantastic year of Art.
In Visual Arts, we will be working in a variety of Arts areas which could include: drawing, painting, modelling, textiles, printing and construction. In these sessions, students will have the opportunity to create a variety of 2D and 3D artworks.
In Performing Arts, students from Years F-4 will be involved in the areas of: drama, music and dance and media arts. They will work both individually and in groups. Students will have many opportunities to work on a variety of challenging activities and share their performances. Students in Years 5 & 6 will participate in Media Arts in either Term 1 or Term 2.
This year, students will attend the Visual Arts 1 Room (Senior Arts) or the Visual Arts 2 Room (Junior Arts) or the Performing Arts Room (New Space near Year 6 Rooms) depending on their year level and Arts Teacher.
Students will use their Arts Journals to plan, record and reflect on their many arts experiences.
As always, students’ artworks will be displayed throughout the school corridors, on our school website and in our newsletter.
This year students will need to bring their own clearly named Art Smock (can be an old t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt etc).
If you have any questions relating to the Arts Program please do not hesitate contact us.
The Arts Team are starting the year with a whole school project that will be displayed in the hallway, once put together. We have all the students completing a ¼ of a circle that will be put together to make one mural. If you would like to participate, please grab a copy of the ¼ circle template to decorate from the front office.
If you’d like to participate, can you please:
- use 1-3 colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel. The colour wheel is attached for easy use, e.g. blues and greens, yellows and oranges, reds and purples etc.
- the section that is not the circle needs to be a black or grey tone.
- add detail and pattern as you would like.
You may use pencils, textas, fine liners etc. These are all due back by Wednesday the 12th. February. The more people involved the bigger our community piece will be. Let’s go Mill Park Heights PS Community, let’s get creative!
‘The circle is considered a symbol of unity. It is also the symbol of infinity, without beginning or end, perfect, the ultimate geometric symbol. Students, Teachers, ES staff and Parents are invited to have the opportunity to colour and design ¼ of a circle to be weaved together to represent one community.’
