Feast of St Margaret Mary and our 85th Anniversary

St Margaret Mary’s School, opened in the early 1940's and began with forty children and two Sisters inspired by the example of Saint Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph.

In the early years, resources were simple and teaching was rooted in faith and service. The Marist Sisters continued this tradition from 1950, helping the school grow to over 500 students by 1965. Today, our school is a vibrant, multicultural community of more than 570 students, united for eighty five years in faith, learning and care for one another.

Our patron, St Margaret Mary Alacoque, was a French nun whose life was marked by extraordinary faith. As a young woman, she experienced several visions of Jesus, who asked her to spread devotion to his Sacred Heart—a symbol of God's love and compassion for all. Despite many challenges, St Margaret Mary remained devoted to prayer, encouraged acts of kindness and invited everyone to place their trust in God’s love. Her humility and perseverance continue to inspire our school’s values of service, love and community. Our school motto, "Love the Truth" remind us to centre our lives on Christ just like St Margaret Mary.

Please join us for our special celebration this Friday, 17th October, from 9:00am to 10:30am, starting with liturgy and followed by a family morning tea. We warmly welcome all families and carers to honour our history and the inspiring life of St Margaret Mary Alacoque.

In the words of St Margaret Mary herself:

"Look upon yourself as a tree planted beside the water, which bears its fruit in due season; the more it is shaken by the wind, the deeper it strikes its roots into the ground."

Many Blessings,

Nancy
