At STMMs, we are continuing to build a positive and safe playground culture where every student can enjoy their break times. This term, our staff will be revisiting, introducing and focusing on proactive strategies that support how students play and interact with one another.
Our aim is to ensure that all students are:
Our overarching 24 character strengths, including but not limited to judgement, prudence, fairness, creativity, and leadership, are being used to help guide our approach to safe and positive play. These strengths provide a shared language and framework for students to make thoughtful decisions, show care for others, and take responsibility for their actions.
You may have noticed that when our new bathrooms opened, students participated in a lesson and viewed visual posters reminding them how to use these spaces safely and respectfully.
Beginning this week, we will continue to roll out focused expectations for different playground areas. This will include the soccer field, top playground, running track, cola and lower playground, each with clear guidelines to promote safe and positive play. Each of these areas will also have a visual reminder and poster to help support positive play.
Through these shared characteristics and expectations, we continue to nurture a school environment where every student can learn, play and grow safely together.
In Christ,
