Mathematics

This term, our first topic will be Data Representation. A key focus of this 12-lesson topic is in understanding the key steps of a statistical investigation from beginning to end. Students are learning to plan investigations, write survey questions, and collect large-scale categorical data. A key focus is on interpreting data displayed in frequency tables and column graphs with non-unit scales. Students are supported by their previous learning in graph comparison, data representation, and interpretation.

Vocabulary

Over the past two weeks the students have been learning 5 new words each week from the novel and fluency reading passages. Students look at the meaning of the words, synonyms and antonyms for the words, and how to use the words in sentences. They then use these words in their writing and reading.
