Principal's News

Dear Parents & Parishioners,
Vision for Engagement
Vision for Engagement is a commitment from MACS schools to work in partnership with students and their families to successfully navigate the issues of contemporary life. Based on evidence of how students learn and thrive, it articulates six engagement practices and two implementation strategies that, when attended to in a consistent and sustained manner, create enabling learning environments and support young people to be learners. It affirms current practices across MACS schools with a clear articulation of our expectations and solidifies the importance of engagement as a learning improvement strategy.
Vision for Engagment is the companion piece to Vision for Instruction, launched in March 2024, which promotes explicit instruction - a way of teaching in which complex skills are introduced to students in small steps, supported by clear explanations and demonstrations of what students are expected to learn.

Working Bee
Considering the weather we have had the past few days, we were very fortunate to have fine - albeit windy - weather for our Working Bee last Sunday. It was great to have so many parents and children 'roll up their sleeves' and help out on the day.
During the morning we completed a huge variety of tasks including, but not limited to: trimming high bushes along York St adjacent to the top playing courts; weeding the Orchard Garden along York St side of the property; weeding garden beds near hall stairs; preparing the grounds near the sport shed where our students' new aboriginal rock pathway installation will be laid; clearing ivy and the spouting above the Sport Shed; distributing mulch on garden beds; and blowing the school grounds.
All of this hard work was rewarded at the conclusion with the customary sausage sizzle and social gathering.
Thanks to everyone who has turned up and contributed their time to any of this year's three Working Bees!
A big round of thanks to Luke Torpey and Justin Bolger who have coordinated all the working bees over the past several years. We couldn't have done it without you guys.

World Teachers' Day
Next Friday, 31 October, is recognised as World Teachers' Day. This is a great opportunity to reflect on current and past teachers who have made a real impact on our lives.
Being a teacher is more than a job; it’s a vocation. Good teachers encourage, lead, teach, and guide, leaving a lasting mark on every child’s life.
Beyond the classroom walls, a teacher's influence extends into our society. Through moulding young minds and instilling essential values, teachers contribute to developing well-rounded citizens equipped to navigate societal challenges.
