Eric Agyeman

Dear Heathmont Community,

Last Thursday 9th October, our Year 8 students were treated to a Keynote presentation by Eric Agyeman. Eric is a highly regarded presenter and public speaker who has extensive experience working with young people. Eric shared his compelling lived experience story of overcoming adversity and mental health challenges to inspire resilience, respect, and leadership. Not only did students walk away with practical next steps to improve their wellbeing, academic, and personal development, but they also thoroughly enjoy Eric's storytelling and humour.

From a parent:

Hello Shane I just wanted to write to let you know my daughter came home saying how great the guest speaker was today. She found him engaging and inspiring. Reinforced the value of family and empowering them that they can do anything. She even said the boys were engaged and seemed to partake in the session. I love how the school runs these sessions at Heathmont. I think hearing real stories about 'grit/resilience " and the importance of simple things in life is what teenagers need to hear.

In addition, Eric has begun working with a select group of Year 8 boys. Students have been identified that would benefit from Eric's guidance to improve confidence, behaviours and community engagement. The first session was highly successful, and we look for to the remaining sessions this year. For more information, feel free to watch Eric's informational video below.
