Reminders & Homework

Some important reminders:

  • By the end of Week 5, each student will need a long cardboard roll (e.g. paper towel, foil or glad wrap) to make a rainstick instrument.
  • By the end of Week 8, students need to bring in cardboard shoeboxes, tubes, rolls or other to make marble runs.

The Homework expectations and Home Learning ideas for this term are:

  • Hearing your child read their take home book every night. After they have read, ask them questions focusing on who, what, when, why and where. Also ask them questions that will make them infer meaning and think beyond the text. Please use the questions provided by your classroom teacher as a guide.
  • Practising reading the Magic Words every week. Magic Word writing practice is optional. There are also opportunities to integrate Magic Words into card games, such as Snap, Go Fish and Memory.
  • Using the Nessy Literacy app to build and consolidate spelling and reading skills .
  • Playing some previously learnt maths games from Michael Minas' website Love Maths. Students will be familiar with many of these from the classroom, and most of them only require dice and/or playing cards.
  • Using our Maths electronic resources including: My Numeracy and Matific
  • Your classroom teacher should have given you a detailed Mathematics home learning letter during parent teacher interviews. Please contact your teacher if you need another copy.
  • Also, please contact your classroom teacher if you require your child's longin details for any of the educational apps.

Kind regards,
