Term 4 – The things we are looking forward to

This week, the staff reflected on the things we are looking forward to this term. These include camps, kinder transition, Prep fairy tale writing, graduation, and end of year events such as the Big Day Out and the Colour Run. These events not only bring a sense of fun and excitement, but they also provide meaningful opportunities to celebrate the growth our students have made, both individually and collectively, throughout the year. Please continue to monitor Xuno and read the newsletter regularly to ensure you have the important information required for each of these events.

As we celebrate the many exciting events happening across Term 4, we are also beginning our planning for the 2026 school year. At this stage, our projected enrolment numbers for 2026 are similar to those of 2025, though we understand these may shift slightly as family circumstances change. To assist us in planning grade structures and student groupings effectively, we kindly ask families to notify us as soon as possible if their child will not be returning in 2026. Your support in this process is greatly appreciated.

Happening Today – Regional Aths in Ballarat

Today we wish Addi Hann, Jobe Lewis, Georgia Lewis and Connor Crawford all the best at the Regional Athletic Carnival in Ballarat. This achievement is a result of the student’s success at Division Level in Warrnambool in Term 2.  Addi will be representing the school in Discus, Connor in High Jump, Jobe in Triple Jump and Georgia in both Triple Jump and Hurdles. We thank their families for supporting each of these students in being part of this day.

Happening in Week 2 and Week 3

Camp and Camp Recovery Days

Next week the first of our three camps takes place with the Grade 3/4 students heading off to Warrnambool for a two night camp. The following week the Grade 5/6 students will spend two nights at Kangaroobie in the Otways. Later in the same week the Grade 1/2s will have a day trip to Warrnambool, followed by a Port Fairy overnight adventure for the Grade 2s. We thank our staff for their commitment to continue to make these camps happen and for our parents in encouraging their child to attend. We know everyone will have a great time.

A reminder that this year we are trialling a Camp Recovery Day for Grade 3-6 students, the day following their camp. On this day, no official classes will be held, and students are encouraged to take a rest before returning to school on the Friday. The Recovery Day not only provides a much needed break but also helps the school acquit Time in Lieu accrued by staff during camp, ensuring minimal disruption to our learning program in Term 4. A letter about this was sent out during the week.

Musica Viva Incursion and Visiting Circus

Next Thursday we welcome Musica Viva to our school.   We thank Mrs Garland for making this event happen.  On Wednesday afternoon we are excited to  have Na Djinang Circus, a company specializing in Indigenous contemporary circus  visiting our Grade 1/2 students. The company are sharing their production ‘Of The Land on Which We Meet’ at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre on October 18th,  but have offered our Grade 1/2 students free circus workshops on Wednesday.  We know our students will have great fun.

Hoop Time – Grade 4  Regional Finals

The Hoop Time Regional Final for Grade 4 will take place on Monday October 20th. A fantastic achievement for our students. Due to Year 5/6 camp Mr Kelson is unable to coach the team however Jason Thomas has offered to take on this role. As Jason currently coaches the U12A Hamilton squad team and has good knowledge of the players we know the team is in good hands. Mrs Kelson will be in attendance to support students and Mrs Langley will also pop up throughout the day to provide encouragement.
