Year 1 & 2

The Year 1 and 2 students have had a very positive start to Term 4. We are really looking forward to the Milo and Movie Night in Week 3, and can’t wait to spend the time playing games, having supper, and watching a movie with our friends.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have made use of the Spring weather and headed outside to complete our Location activities. Students have become aware of using very specific language, as they have directed their classmates from one area to another. Words, such 'over', 'under', 'through', 'forwards', and 'backwards', have been used, as has 'right' and 'left'. Students have had to make sure that they know their left from their right, as they moved through different courses.

Literacy

For the first half of this term, we have an Author’s Study. Our author is Mem Fox, and students have delighted in sharing all of the Mem Fox books that they may have at home or have read over the years. Each week, we focus on a different book, completing reading and writing activities. We are comparing the differences and similarities between the books, then writing different stories and writing pieces.

Geography

Students have been learning about what maps are used for, and important features on a map. They have learnt about ‘birds eye view’. They have been learning about the language around giving directions from one place to another on a map, connecting their learning to our Maths topic. 

Celebrating our Students

Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below students' certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
