Year of Hope Class Focus
Students are continuing to learn about Hope — believing that God loves us and will help us, even when things are hard, and trusting that good things will come in the future. They have been exploring stories of hope from both the Old and New Testaments, discovering how God’s promises bring strength and trust during challenging times. See below for some wonderful examples of the students’ thoughtful and creative work from our Religion lessons!
The History of Halloween for Catholics
Halloween began as All Hallows’ Eve, the night before All Saints’ Day (November 1st), when Catholics honour all the saints in heaven. The next day, All Souls’ Day (November 2nd), is when we pray for all who have died.
While Halloween today includes costumes and fun, its roots remind us to thank God for the saints, pray for the souls of the faithful departed, and hope in eternal life with Him.
