A message from Olivia!
Acting Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy and vibrant few weeks it has been at our school!
From classroom activities, to the Colour Run, to swimming/beach lessons, Book Fair and Grandparents Morning ......... the school has been buzzing with energy and excitement.
While weeks like this can feel full, they also remind us of how fortunate we are to be part of such a dynamic and connected community.
Every event—whether it’s a performance, sports day, assembly, or celebration—adds another layer to the culture we share. These experiences give our students opportunities to connect, to showcase their talents, and to feel proud of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
It’s in these moments that our values come to life: teamwork, creativity, kindness, and perseverance. Thank you to all our staff, students, and families for the enthusiasm and effort that make periods like this possible.
Together, we’re not just keeping busy—we are BEING THE LIGHT!
Often in Denis' entry in the newsletter, he shares something about his family - as you know he is taking a well deserved mini break of long-service leave. However, I thought I could show you what I shared with the Grandparents this morning.
I shared that as a full time working mother, how important my own parents were in helping me raise my two children. Both my Mum and Dad not only cared for Oscar and Morgan before they went to school, but, once at school were often the liaison - doing drop-offs and pick ups!

These two photographs are very special to me - they are from Grandparents Day from when they were in Primary School. I love how Oscar is in awe of his Poppy .....inspired to learn about his Italian heritage! My father came to Australia on a boat with just a few dollars in his pocket - he taught himself to read and speak English - but was never able to write. In the other photograph, Morgan is scribing for my father his responses to the interview questions ....it was here she learnt about how different and challenging his life was for him compared to hers. I like to hope my work ethic and resilience has been inspired by my late father. May he rest in peace.
PS: Oscar turns 20 next week and Morgan is now 16. Where has the time gone?
With the risk of sounding a little emotional ......I want to thank the entire St Mary's Community. I'm so grateful to our students, staff, parents, families and friends .....every event, every extra effort, and every smile in the corridor helps build the wonderful culture.
Thank you all — for your support, your positivity, and your willingness to dive in and make things happen. It really does mean the world.
Here is to the remainder of Term 4 with many more exciting things to happen!
Oops! I almost forgot .......Happy World Teacher's Day .....I'll give you all Monday and Tuesday off to celebrate!!!!!
