Specialist Snapshot

Term 4 Overview

Across specialist classes in Term 4, routines including the First 5 and Final 5 will continue to be reinforced, along with our Specialist goal and scoring system to encourage classes to follow our school values and expectations.

Performing Arts

Term 4 is an exciting time for Performing Arts, much of the term in both junior and senior classes will be spent working towards our end of year Christmas Assembly Performance items. Senior classes will also have a focus on using technology such as Garage Band to compose their own music.

Physical Education

In PE, junior classes will be practicing skills and events for the Junior Athletics which will be held later in the term on November 27. Grade 3s and 5s will be focusing on critical thinking and team building activities, along with tennis skills. Grade 4s will be focusing on striking games such as teeball and cricket and Grade 6s will be participating in a fitness based unit.

Auslan

In Auslan this term, the junior students will be exploring emotions and feelings through signing activities, stories, and games. By linking signs to facial expressions and body language, children begin to understand how emotions are communicated visually and physically in Auslan.

Grade 3 and 4 students are learning Auslan vocabulary and phrases related to food, meals and drinks, along with home routines such as waking up, brushing teeth, or going to bed.

In Grade 5 and 6 Auslan classes, students extend their language skills by practising greetings, introductions, and simple conversations, learning how to sign their name, ask questions, and exchange basic information. These skills are connected to cultural learning through exploring the Deaflympics, where students discover how Deaf athletes from around the world use Auslan and other sign languages to communicate and celebrate sport.

Visual Arts

In Visual Arts, senior classes will focus on 3D art and will be using hands on art skills and techniques such as making sculptures. Junior classes will explore and experiment with printmaking, clayworks, plasticine and recycled materials.

STEM

STEM in Term 4 will see senior classes continuing science based units of work. Junior classes will continue to focus on cyber safety before all year levels move into fun design based lego units and challenges to see out the year.

Please note there has been some staff and timetable changes in STEM. Term 4 STEM teachers and the classes they will be teaching are as follows:
