Library News

This week in Prep–Year 2, students enjoyed listening to Walk of the Whales by best-selling author Nick Bland. The story tells of whales who leave the ocean to walk on land, causing great confusion among people. As the whales’ presence begins to affect daily life—shops closing, farms flooding, and people growing frustrated—a curious young girl takes the time to ask the whales what everyone can do to help.

After discussing the story, students took part in an activity sorting living things that belong in the ocean and non-living things that can harm sea creatures and their habitats. Throughout the term, students will continue reading picture books linked to their Inquiry topic in Biological Science, exploring how living things depend on their environments to survive.

New in the Library – Book Suggestion Box!

We’ve introduced a Book Suggestion Box in the library, giving students the chance to recommend titles they'd love to see on our shelves. Whether it's a favourite series, a non-fiction topic of interest, or something they've seen elsewhere, all suggestions are welcome! It's a great way for students to have a voice in shaping our collection and sharing reading ideas with others.
