Library News
Hooray! The last week of the term has arrived, and everyone’s excited about the upcoming holidays. I wish you all a wonderful and rejuvenating break filled with plenty of opportunities to dive into fantastic stories.
This Week’s Reads
Kindergarten -This week, we’re reading one of my favourite stories, ' Twig’ by Aura Parker. We meet Twig, a shy stick insect who starts at a new bug school. Twig’s problem is that she’s so good at blending in that no one sees her. This leads to a great discussion about camouflage, and then students get to practice disguising their own Twig.
Stage 1 - This week, we’re having fun reading "Fox in Socks" by Dr. Seuss and getting our tongues twisted! This humorous and playful story always has us laughing out loud. I've also found a collection of tongue twisters, and we'll be practising some of our own. When your child comes home, ask them if they can remember any of the tongue twisters we've learned!
Stage 2 - We’re excited to continue our journey with ‘Fish Kid and the Lizard Ninja’ by Kylie Howarth as part of our ongoing sea life project. This week, students will create informative and visually appealing posters on Canva, each focusing on a specific sea creature. These posters will be presented to the class, allowing students to share what they’ve learned and celebrate each other’s work. I look forward to seeing and sharing their creativity with you next term.
Stage 3 - has successfully completed its unit on "Brilliant Minds: 30 Dyslexic Heroes Who Changed the World." This book highlights the incredible achievements of dyslexic individuals, showcasing their unique talents and contributions. As part of the unit, students created posters of the lives and accomplishments of these remarkable figures. The project not only enhanced their understanding of dyslexia but also inspired them to appreciate diverse ways of thinking and learning. The students' creativity and hard work were evident in their beautiful posters and you can see some examples below.
