Grade 3/4 News
Australian School of Performing Arts ( ASPA) Opportunity
Congratulations to the Year 3/4 students who took part in the afternoon workshop with the ASPA team last Tuesday.
There were singing opportunities to warm up and then some intensive work on the dance steps for the song, ‘Moana’.
This item will be presented by St.Bernard's at the next Festival of the Sacred in September. It is the first time that St Bernard’s has been invited to present a dance piece.
The preparation by the students for this session was obvious and both the teachers and the students had a fabulous time bringing the dance item together.
Information Reports
Over the term, the students in Year 3/4 have produced an Information Report on Australia, as well as an African and South American country.
These reports have been presented in a variety of formats.
We hope that you have an opportunity to read and be transported to these countries over the coming weeks.
Not only have the students learnt more about distant countries, they have also had the opportunity to compare and contrast the features of these countries with our own.
In doing this, we believe that they have come to admire and appreciate the similarities that Australia shares with other nations and at the same time recognise how wonderfully unique their country is.
Congratulations Oscar
Last Friday Oscar Primmer and several other students in Year 5/6, competed in the Hume Regional Cross Country Competition.
The top twelve in each age group were selected for the State Cross Country Event to be held in Melbourne.
Oscar came fourteenth in his race, which was a very strong result, especially when you learn that Oscar was one of the youngest runners there.
Mass and Probability
Over the last two weeks the students have been hefting and weighing, as well as predicting and exploring possible outcomes in Mathematics.
We’re thinking that the probability of some cooking during the holidays might be high on the agenda. Or perhaps because of the possible mess and lack of time and opportunity, the chances of cooking are closer to none.
Whatever the outcome, we wish all our families a restful and peaceful time together.
