Yellow Ladybug Conference 2025

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, teacher representatives from each of our teams will be attending the Yellow Ladybug Conference. The yellow Ladybug Conference brings together autistic experts from the allied health, education, advocacy, research, care-based and creative sectors to share their experience, work and ideas on how to better support autistic girls and gender diverse youth at school, home and beyond. We look forward to hearing about and applying the learning that our teachers bring back from the conference.

Community Forums

As you may be aware, there has once again been speculation and reporting in the media about phonics study in Victorian Primary Schools. At BNWPS we have been implementing a research based approach to the teaching and learning of phonics for a number of years. We would like to direct anyone who has any questions about the teaching of phonics at BNWPS to our Community Forums. We have a great presentation about phonics at BNWPS, as well as some wonderful presentations about other curriculum areas and the way we implement them at BNWPS. If you have any questions about our Numeracy or Literacy programs, these forums are a great place to start.

Shade Sail

Earlier this year, BNWPS was the recipient of a shade sail grant, and we are very happy to celebrate that the shade sail has now been erected outside the Performing Arts classrooms. This means that, when the weather gets warmer, we will have another alternate location for classes to safely work, play and gather outside. If you have not yet checked out the new shade sail, we invite you to have a look at it next time you are in the school grounds.

Foundation 2025

There are many families in our community who have children that will be starting school at BNWPS in 2025. We are now taking enrolments, and would love to chat to families about what their plans are. If this applies to your family, or anyone that you know, please give our office a call to organise a tour with some of our senior students and a chat with Hannah, Keir or Emma

Lost Property

As we have mentioned at assemblies over the past week, BNWPS has a monumental pile of Lost Property. We would like to remind all families to make sure that anything (and everything!) that students bring or wear to school should be clearly labeled with their name. At BNWPS we often finish off the term with a huge pile of lost property that we end up donating to local charity shops, or that just ends up in landfill. Every week, our Lost Property team goes through the pile of hats, shoes, lunchboxes and items of clothing, and tries to locate the owner of each item. This is only possible if the items are clearly labeled with the name of the student who bought the item to school. Let’s all work together to aim for a much smaller pile of lost property by the end of term two!
