Principal's Report

Year 3 / 4 measuring & cooking ham & cheese ravioli

Dear Families,

Our teaching staff would like to thank our parent community for meeting them at the Parent - Teacher Interviews. Parents are welcome to book meetings throughout the year, being aware that staff are not available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from 3:30-4:30 pm due to staff engagement in Professional Learning Team meetings and Staff Meetings. Tomorrow is the last day of term and there will be an early dismissal at 1:30pm with Camp Australia after school care available through the normal booking procedures. Tomorrow is also Winter Woolies day and the last chance to donate goods to our St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal. Students are permitted to come in Winter casual clothing tomorrow.

Thank you Adriana Siomos and welcome our new 3/4 G teacher, Mia Somerville.

I begin this newsletter with gratitude for the work of Adriana Siomos. As you are aware, Adriana will leave us mid year to take leave in preparation for the birth of her baby, who has been given the nickname of “Broccolini.”

I am happy to announce that our new 3 / 4 G classroom teacher will be Miss Mia Somerville. Mia has been spending some time with Adriana and the students over the past few weeks and will continue to work in the classroom alongside Adriana to ensure that there is a smooth transition to Term 3. We have also employed Adriana to work in the classroom with Mia for the first 2 days of Term 3.

I know that the whole school community will make Miss Somerville feel very welcome.

A message from Adriana Siomos

Andrew and I are thrilled that we are about to welcome our first child in August! This marks a new and exciting chapter in our lives, and I'm filled with anticipation as I prepare for motherhood.

The hardest part of this new chapter is having to leave St Leonard's especially considering my wonderful 3/4G class.  I know it will be no time till I'm back again but I've truly cherished getting to know each of my students in my 3/4 class. The good news is, Miss Somerville has already been working closely with the class this year.  She has a strong understanding of the class already, which will ensure a smooth transition for the remainder of the school year.

I have full confidence that Miss Somerville will provide the children with the continued support and guidance they need to thrive. While I'll miss working with all of you and the amazing kids here at St Leonard's, I take comfort in knowing they're in excellent hands. This isn't goodbye…it's, ‘I'll see you all soon!’

Thank you for your continued support of the St Leonard's community.

Mrs Adriana Siomos and Baby Broccolini 🙂

PFA Movie Night  Tomorrow

There is a real buzz in the community as we look forward to our annual Movie Night to watch Despicable Me 4. I have heard that there is a new baby joining Gru's family, named Baby Gru, and joining Margo, Edith and Agnes. The trailer shows 5 minions transferred into super minions and becoming secret agents. It will be fun to see how the story unfolds.

Child Safety Reminders

  • Please note that this is NOT a school staff supervised event.
  • Children need to be supervised by their parents at all times during the movie and while moving to and from the cinema to the toilets or candy bar etc.,
  • If your child suffers from asthma or anaphylaxis please note that the transport and administering of any medications needs to be organized by a supervising parent or guardian.

Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Morning (change of date)

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of St Leonard's School we invite grandparents or significant friends, such as aunts and uncles or family friends to a very special morning. We all know grandparents and special friends play a vital role in our children's lives. They offer a wealth of love, support, and unique experiences that enrich our students' journeys. To celebrate these special bonds, we're excited to invite grandparents and special friends to a dedicated morning on Wednesday, 24th July.

This event coincides with the feast day of Saints Anne and Joachim, the parents of Mary and grandparents of Jesus on 26th July. We'll begin the day with a special whole-school liturgy in the church, followed by a warm welcome for our special guests.

Here's what to look forward to:

Wednesday 24th July

9:15 AM: Whole-School Liturgy in the church (all welcome) Students can sit with their grandparent/s or Special Friends

10:00 AM: Grandparents and Special Friends are then brought back to school and shown their grandchildren's room where they will participate in a fun activity together in the classrooms. We will ask our visitors to share some stories and or images of when they were at school. During this time, students and their visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a scone with jam and cream if ordered via the Trybooking online platform.

11AM: Tea and coffee served in the Multipurpose Room for adults only-a chance for grandparents, special friends, and teachers to mingle.

To ensure we can cater appropriately, please secure a ticket via Trybooking for each attendee, including children who wish to enjoy a scone for morning tea.
