YEAR 9 WELLBEING || Day 1 of an exciting, two-day adventure for our Year 9 students! Some went global with excursions to create positive change for humans, animals or the environment, and others embraced local experiences including GoalBall, cooking up a storm, ‘Sketch & Snack’ and building resources to empower young people to put an end to violence. A dynamic blend of education, fun and nurturing flourishing wellbeing!

BREAKING NEWS! || A big congratulations to our Boys Basketball team who have just been notified that they've qualified for the U20 Division 2 Victorian State Finals next week! What an incredible accomplishment, especially with an all Year 10 and Year 11 squad! Let's cheer them on as they aim for victory!

CHEERING ON KIARA || Today, students and staff gathered in the Senior Centre to watch and cheer on Kiara in the Australian Swimming Olympic Trials! Under fierce competition, she swam her heart out and finished 5th in her heat for the 200m freestyle. On Monday, she finished 3rd in her heat for the 400m freestyle, placing Top 10 for girls 18 and under, nationally! We couldn't be prouder of her determination and dedication, not to mention this HUGE achievement!

FRENCH CULINARY ADVENTURE || A delicious day of cultural immersion for our Year 9 French students yesterday! They stepped into the world of French cuisine at the Flavours Patisserie Café in Beaumaris, where they learned the art of crafting traditional croissants from a skilled French pastry chef. Bon appétit!

ALL ABILITY ZONE – THE SHARK TANK PITCH || Tensions were high this afternoon when a group of Year 10 students pitched their idea to revolutionise the fitness industry. The students unveiled their plan for introducing disability-inclusive gym equipment in existing gyms in what they’re calling the ‘All Ability Zone’. Through extensive research, the students had been unable to find a gym in the area that provided equipment catering for those with accessibility issues and came up with their solution for this glaring gap.
The students were lucky enough to present to two representatives from Good Life Health Clubs along with the Beaumaris Secondary College Principal Team. The ‘Sharks’ were captivated by the students’ ability to reflect on the impact on the broader community and how they could target a relatively untouched market. They were also gobsmacked as to how this excellent idea is not already out there and were supportive of trying to make this idea become reality. RICHMOND AFL EXPERIENCE || Today was all about immersive learning for our VCE PE students at the Punt Road Oval with the Richmond AFL Experience! From observing AFL training sessions to getting hands-on with Richmond's facilities, they delved into key components aligning with the VCE PE curriculum. Plus, they gained valuable insights into study and career paths in sport and recreation from the Richmond Institute. An enriching experience!

LUNCH WITH THE PRINCIPAL || Over the course of this term, our Year 11 students have enjoyed a special pizza lunch with the Principal in the MCC Pavilion! It was a great opportunity to connect, especially considering that this cohort spent most of Years 7 & 8 at home due to the pandemic.

VCE VM ROCK CLIMBING || As part of their Work Related Skills (WRS) studies, today our VCE VM students dove into teamwork, problem-solving, and pushing boundaries at Bayside Rock Climbing. They tackled a high ropes course with swinging logs, tight ropes and more! A day of challenges and growth!

YEAR 8 INNOVATE FUSION RECIPE PBL || Our Year 8 students delved into various cultural groups, explored media representations, and investigated different cultures and cuisines. They used their initiative to create innovative fusion recipes by blending elements from two of the cultures studied. The students cooked, tasted, evaluated their creations, and connected them to sustainability practices.
