F-2 News

Foundation/1
We have had a busy two weeks in Foundation/1, starting with a visit from Kristy and Lexy from The Responsible Pet Ownership Program. Kristy taught us all about how we should react around dogs we don't know and what to do if a dog is upset or angry. Lexy was a beautiful dog for us to learn these strategies and loved getting a pat at the end of the session.
Our Buddies session last week was also a huge hit. The F/1 students had to create a dinosaur out of recyclables they had collected during eating time. We had some amazing creations!
Maths Exploration
Students in F/1A had heaps of fun exploring length, counting and patterns with our unifix blocks. Working in groups, the children tried to make the tallest towers, that then turned into making the longest path. All the while I heard lots of counting, comparisons of length and colour but best of all was hearing the happy voices and laughter as they worked together. Well done!
F-2 Sports Afternoons
The weather outside might be getting very chilly, but our students had so much fun last Friday enjoying an impromptu disco! There were some great moves happening :-)
New Take Home Readers
The Prep to Grade 2 team are so excited about our new decodable readers! Here we can see Bobby and Mrs Harvie having a sneak peak at one of the Prep level texts. We will be using a plastic document wallet to keep these beautiful books in great condition. The wallets will be placed in your child's green pouch and should be returned each day. We hope everyone will enjoy them.
Grade 2
In Maths we have been learning about Fractions. On Thursday we got a packet of smarties and we had to make a graph and write how many smarties we had. We had to write the fractions. It was fun, we ate them at the end! - Kase
Last Tuesday we went over to the Aged Care and did a presentation about our Fauna Park Excursion. We shared our Fauna Park Excursion posters that we made and decorated it with the Aged Care residents - Katie.
Linda visited us from the Tongala Library. She read us the Bowerbird Blues book. I liked the story. Then we got to make our own nest. It was really fun - Evie.
eSmart Parent session - Tuesday the 18th of June at 6pm
Our school will be running an eSmart Schools parent session with facilitator Craig who will be here to advise how we can keep our children safe online.
