What a big week at TPS
Mr Hogan
Staff spent a full day on Tuesday building their capacity and unpacking our new Literacy 2.0 curriculum. The morning session was looking at how Wellbeing approaches and improvement strategies can work together to improve student outcomes. All staff looked at their current practice and how they could improve outcomes using both instructional and wellbeing approaches.
Our Education Support staff had some online learning around restorative practices and strategies aimed at ADHD in students, which was very informative for all.
A great day of learning was had by all staff.
We are really looking forward to working with the Allanah and Madeleine Foundation next Tuesday around eSafety.
All students will be attending a session throughout the day, followed by a staff session after school and then a parent information session at 6pm at night. More information is in the eSafety page as part of this newsletter.
For families who need to bring their children along, we will have a room with a video, Lego, colouring and games set up, which will be supervised by one of our teachers.
With the current media exposure around staying safe online and protecting young people's safety, this is a timely and no doubt extremely informative session.
Parent/Teacher Interview day will be held on Wednesday, June 26th from 9am to 4:30pm.
Parents will be able to book now via Compass. These interviews go for 15 minutes and a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress and set goals for Semester 2.
No students are required at school on this day, but are encouraged to attend interviews with their families. Phone interviews are also available, and if this day does not suit for families, please speak to your child's teacher and make an alternative time.
Next Wednesday, I am looking forward to taking our Boys football team to the inter school carnival in Moama.
Our 3-6 Winter Sports days are also happening at the moment, and our Grade 3/4's had a great day yesterday, with our 5/6's heading over to Kyabram next Thursday for their day.
On Friday, May 31st, our netball teams competed in the Inter school tournament in Echuca, where our Girls team came runners up to Echuca Primary School in what was a fabulous achievement.
Notes are starting to go home for our Camps program for 2024.
Grade 2 are heading to Pioneer Settlement in Term 3, whilst our Grade 3/4 Camp (Murray Life Adventures) and 5/6 Camp (Urban Camp) will be during Term 4.
A slight change to the camp payments this year, now sees all participants needing to pay a $50 deposit, at least 2 months prior to attending. This is non-refundable except for exceptional circumstances, and allows the school to more accurate plan and cover the costs involved.
As with all things, unfortunately the price of camps continues to increase, therefore if families are wanting to pay off their camps in instalments, please see either myself, Melissa Pearce or Kaz in the office.
We are still awaiting finalised cleaning contracts for our new toilets. We hope to have them open very soon.
2025 Enrolments are now open. We look forward to welcoming a new group of Prep students and families next year. If you, or someone you know, is enrolling for next year, please make sure they contact the office and collect our enrolment packs.
Teachers are currently writing mid year student reports. These will be made available via Compass on Friday, June 21st.
Have a great week everyone
Rob
