One off excursion payment
Reminders have been sent out to those families that have still not paid this fee. Remember this is the only fee we charge you for the whole year and it covers all incursions and excursions.
Eddie Woo
Today, four students from Year 6 (Charlotte, Quade, Alex and Josh) were invited to participate in a mathematics lesson delivered by Eddie Woo at Armidale Secondary College. Eddie Woo is a well-known high school mathematics teacher who has his own YouTube channel where he encourages his audience to find joy in mathematics. This is a great opportunity for students to learn from the best and challenge their mathematical skills.
Soccer Knockout
Last Friday our boy's soccer team played in the soccer knockout gala day. They had a great day winning their first two games against Walcha and Armidale City, resulting in them playing against Ben Venue in the final. Unfortunately, Ben Venue were too strong winning 2-0. I would like to thank Michael Aberton who helped look after the team on the day.
Cross Country
Congratulations to Kieran and Charlotte on their success at the North West Cross Country. They will now compete in the State Championships in Sydney on the 23rd July. Another great achievement from students at Martin's Gully.
NAIDOC Week activities and excursions
Over the next two weeks students will participate in a number of activities and excursions to learn more about the local Aboriginal culture and history as part of our NAIDOC celebrations. This week Kindergarten and Stage 1 have excursions to the Blue Hole and Mt Yarrowyck respectively where they will have National Parks rangers talk to the students about the local Aboriginal history, fauna and flora. Next week, Dave Widders will visit the school and introduce the students to the local Aboriginal language, history and culture.
Below are some photos of some very excited Kindergarten kids off to the Blue Hole for the day!
Athletics Carnival
Martin's Gully athletics carnival will be held on Friday 26th July (first Friday back next term). This is for students 8 years and older and will be held at Harris Park.
You Can Do It!
We continue to focus on Getting Along and Persistence this term using the Positive Habits of Mind, I can Do It and Being Tolerant as our focus.
Getting Along is revealed when young people work cooperatively with each other, resolve conflicts by discussion rather than fights, manage their anger, show tolerance, and follow school and home rules and expectations, including making responsible choices so that everyone’s rights are protected.
Persistence is revealed when young people try hard when doing their schoolwork they find frustrating and do not feel like doing, and finish their work on time.
