Congratulations to all our wonderful Young People who so proudly represented our school at the Dio Swimming Carnival in Gunnedah on the 1st of March. Darcy, Hugo, Christopher, Scarlett, Darcie, Charlie, Bella, Millie and Flynn you should be exceptionally proud of your achievements on the day in the 42 degree heat! A massive thank you to Mrs. Hayes for looking after our Young People on the day and to all parents for your commitment to ensuring your children have the opportunity to attend the event, despite the early morning start.
An extra big congratulations to Flynn who was successful in making it to Polding for the 11yrs 50m Backstroke. He will travel to Sydney on the 3rd of April to compete. We know you will do yourself and us all proud.
On Wednesday the 6th and Friday the 8th of March saw 11 of our young people, head to Tamworth to participate in the 2024 Diocesan Winter Trails.
Millie, Lachie R and Charlie B trailed for Hockey and displayed exceptional skills on the day with Lachie R and Charlie B being successful in being chosen for the Diocesan team.
Flynn, Hugo, Darcy and Angus did their absolute best on Friday at the Rugby trials with Flynn, Hugo and Darcy making it to Polding. In Soccer, SMOTA was very proudly represented by Oskar, Peter, George and Darcie. All students played great on the day with Darcie making it into the possible and probables. All students should be exceptionally proud of their efforts on the day with students from all Primary schools in the Armidale Diocese being present, it was a tough competition.
We look forward to seeing how our successful students will go at Polding!
After surveying our school community, we have made the decision to trial hosting our school Athletics Carnival at King George Oval, Glen Innes for 2024.
This decision has been made to ensure our young people have access to full Athletics facilities and additionally, have exposure to a carnival convened in the same way the Dioscean and Polding Athletics Carnivals are convened. Hosting the carnival over one school day instead of two will also limit the disruption to learning.
We understand that this may be difficult for some families, however we believe that in order to provide our young people with the best opportunities possible, we should trial this set up. Our school Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 30th May, 2024. Students will be bused to and from the venue, with the cost of the bus for this trial to be paid by the school. Further information about the carnival will be sent out via Compass closer to the date.
Expressions of Interest are now open for Rugby 7’s (Girls only), Golf, Softball, AFL and Diving. As these sports historically have had limited nominations, the Diocese does not host trials for them. If you wish for your child to be consider for these sports please fill in the form below and the information will be directed to you. The link is also available on the ADPSC website (under the selections tab and desired sport) and the ADPSC Facebook page.
