What's Happening in the F/1 Classroom?

Literacy

We have begun our 'Mystery of Me' days and they have been a success so far! The students have loved learning about each other through the items that have been brought in. Charlie, Max and Ryan have shared so far and have done a fantastic job. After the sharing, the students then write and draw something they have learnt about their classmate. We have also continued to work on our letter and sound knowledge as well as segmenting (sounding out) and blending (putting together).

Numeracy

We have also linked our Maths to our 'Mystery of Me' Inquiry Unit. Each student has chosen their favourite number which we have then learnt about as a class through lots of different activities. We have also measured each student and different parts of their body using unifix blocks.

As well as this, we have continued to focus on counting, forming numbers and shape.

Bluearth

We loved having the kinder students join us for Bluearth this fortnight! They will be coming each session to participate with us. Thanks to our awesome coach Darby.

We enjoyed playing memory tag, partner tag and wasp tag.

Science/Garden

Thanks to Deb and Ebony for teaching us all about gardening and cooking on Thursdays! Last week we made tzatziki and enjoyed trying this with different veggies, biscuits and bread. We also cooked some scrambled eggs. This week we made some pasta and muffins using different produce from the garden.

It's great to see the children being brave and trying new foods!

Inquiry

We talked about what helps our brain when we are learning and what our brain needs and then brainstormed some ideas together as a class. The students then did a self portrait with their brains and drew/wrote the things around their brain that help them learn.

We also drew pictures of our family and then shared them with the rest of the class.

Lots of speaking and listening practice this term!

Happy Birthday Adam & Amara!
