YEAR 3 RETREAT DAY

What an AMAZING day we had on Thursday with our Year 3 students on their Sacramental Retreat! We travelled to Don Bosco in Brunswick and met Fr Jan who spoke briefly about St. Don Bosco's love for people coming together as family to celebrate.

Our students participated in:

 - An activity that allowed for conversations about our faith and reconciliation,

 - An activity that brought out their creativity and knowledge about forgiveness and healing,

 - An activity that gave us a new outlook to fixing broken bonds,

 - An activity that allowed us to express out inner thoughts and emotions through music and..

 - An entire centre dedicated to fun and laughter with trampolines, table tennis, foosball, basketball rings and an outdoor court with bunny and bird enclosures

We will be compiling some thoughts and reflections on this day in the next newsletter from the students.

Having our snack together in the outdoor court
We couldn't get enough of the exciting resources Don Bosco had!
Even the bunnies recieved lots of love and attention

PURPLE FRIDAYS

As part of our Catholic Mission during the season of Lent we raise money for Project Compassion, this money will help many communities in Australia and around the world in need. An initiative are continuing is for students to wear something purple on Fridays to acknowledge our Season of Lent and to donate some money for Project Compassion

This item of clothing should not take away totally from the OLPS school uniform and as such the following items are recommended:

  • Purple hair tie
  • Purple Socks
  • Purple Hat
  • Purple T-shirt

This special initiative will run each Friday for the whole of Term 1 only.

Through our combined efforts, we hope to raise much needed funds to support those in need with Project Compassion. We look forward to seeing our community come together in almsgiving during this season!

What a beautiful Gospel passage there is this weekend to lead us into the Sacrament of First Reconciliation this coming Tuesday. Jesus talks to his friend Nicodemus about the role of The Son of God and the light and darkness we live in. Jesus tells him; if we live in the darkness of sin, we cannot see the light of God's love. But if we acknowledge our life in the darkness and believe in that loving and forgiving power of God, we will live in an eternal light with Him in love and truth.

Have a great long weekend and week ahead and God Bless,

Mr Angelo Iacopino
