From the Leadership Team

On Tuesday, the College welcomed families of Years 9 through to 11 to our Senior School Course Information Evening and Careers Expo.
With over twenty tertiary education and vocational pathways providers present, the event provided great information to help your child navigate their academic and career options.
My sincere thanks to Pathways Coordinator, Deborah Frahn, for her oversight and organisation of the Careers Expo.
Subject selections are underway for
Years 9 - 11 and Year 7 and 8 subject selections will be presented to students next week.
The subjects your child selects for their next year of study are an important step towards achieving their goals.
I strongly encourage families to discuss these important decisions together. Your child’s Head of Village, Care Group teacher, Pathways Coordinator and subject teachers will also be valuable resources to make use of when discussing subject selections.
Choosing subjects that children are passionate about and excel in can boost their confidence and motivation. When students enjoy their studies, they are more likely to engage deeply and achieve strong results. Checking your child’s attitude grades in their most recent Academic Report is often a good way of measuring your child’s interest in certain subjects - with 'high attitude' grades often translating to academic achievement.
When selecting subjects, an important balance must be found between choosing subjects that students achieve highly in with those that appear to leave more options open.
While prerequisites are important for some university courses, there are relatively few. By focusing on subjects they enjoy and can perform well in, students can maximise their ATAR, which is calculated based on their best 90-credits of Stage 2 subject results, ultimately enhancing their future options.
I encourage reviewing course entry requirements to ensure subject choices align with aspirations while emphasising the importance of striving for excellence in every subject.
Vocational Education is another important consideration in determining future study options. Not only can these courses provide valuable hands-on experience in a large variety of different industries, courses at a Certificate III level or higher can also count towards ATAR calculations if a University Pathway is still an option for students. For more information on VET courses, please contact Pathways Coordinator, Deborah Frahn (deborah.frahn@endeavour.sa.edu.au) at the College.
Now is the time to be applying for VET courses for 2026.
To support your child’s decision-making,
Year 10 into 11 Students, and optionally Year 11 into 12 Students, will participate in course counselling with their Head of Village.
Prior to these appointments, I encourage your child to reflect on their experience in their Exploring Identities and Futures, on Work Experience and conversations had at the Careers Expo, to consider how their subject choices can align with their goals while providing flexibility for the future.
At this time, changes can be made to subject selections to ensure alignment across all of these areas.
If you missed Tuesday’s session, the presentations and materials are available in the Endeavour Careers and Pathways Canvas course.
Subject selection web preferences are due by Monday 18 August for Years 9-11. Years 7 and Years 8 students will be given instructions on their process next week with a due date to follow.
Thank you for partnering with the College to help your children develop their God-given gifts and abilities and achieve their goals.
