Facilities Update

On Monday this week we opened our new junior school sandpit, recently installed at the bottom of the Prep building. This new addition allows our youngest students to play with similar aged students in an area that they feel comfortable in, and that is close to their classroom.

We have also just received a delivery of close to 100 sandpit toys for our students to enjoy using, as they build their many and varied constructions. Thank you to our fundraising committee for all their hard work and to our families for supporting such activities that then allow us to add things to our school.

Evacuation Practise

On Tuesday after lunch, we ran a whole school evacuation Practise that involved all staff and students making their way to our safety point, which on this occasion was the sportsground. I am pleased to report that our school community was able to evacuate in just eight minutes, and that everyone was safe and accounted for during this important process. This Practise is undertaken to be ready if we had a real emergency.

Concert Practise

All our year levels are well under way with rehearsals for their year level items for this year’s school production, which will take place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September.  Main cast members have been feverishly practising their lines, and our staff concert committee are meeting regularly to ensure that this year’s production will be even better than our last one.  Parents are asked to keep an eye out on Compass for information regarding ticket purchases and costume needs.

Recent Repairs

Due to some heavy wind and rain in the past fortnight, the school had suffered some damage to both the staffroom roof and the eaves at the bottom of the Prep building. When damage like this occurs, our office staff are quick to contact “MakeSafe”, who quickly respond by sending out trades to firstly ensure areas are secured and then return to restore things to their original state.

Book Week Coming Soon

Just a friendly reminder to parents and guardians that book week dress up day is quickly approaching. Tuesday 19th August will our whole school dress up day, with a book parade being held at 9:15am.

I have already organised my costume for the day and I’m looking forward to being in front of the school on Tuesday morning welcoming students in.  There are many and varied ways for students to dress up, and whilst some people go to great lengths with their costumes, they do not all have to be elaborate.

2026 Prep Enrolments

This week has been nominated by the Department of Education as the time that schools can officially enrol students for Prep next year. It has been a chaotic time in our school office due to us recently being given a reduced Prep cap of 90 students.  This is a decrease from the previous years cap of 105 Preps. Before 2024, the amount of Prep enrolments taken by the school was at the discretion of the Principal. With over 170 enquiries for our 90 positions, it has been a very difficult process to allocate enrolment packs. All successful and unsuccessful families will be notified by the end of this week.
