PBL ~ Always do your Best & LIM ~ Sharpen your Saw!

Doing Your Best—In Work and Friendships ...

At school, doing your best means putting effort into your learning and being a good friend. It’s about showing up with a positive attitude, trying even when things are hard, and treating others with kindness and respect. These actions help build a strong, supportive school community and help you grow into your best self.

This connects with Positive Behaviours for Learning, which encourage students to be safe, respectful, and responsible. It also links to Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw, which reminds us to care for our body, mind, heart, and spirit so we can keep improving and stay balanced.

Here are 3 practical tips to help you do your best every day:

  1. Show respect and responsibility– Arrive on time, follow instructions, and complete your work with care.– Example: Stay focused during lessons and ask for help when you need it.
  2. Be a kind and inclusive friend– Use friendly words, listen to others, and include people in games or group work.– Example: Invite someone sitting alone to join your group or say something encouraging to a classmate.
  3. Take care of yourself– Eat well, get enough sleep, and take time to relax and recharge.– Example: Spend a few minutes reading, drawing, or walking outside to refresh your mind.

When you do your best in both your learning and your friendships, you help create a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and ready to grow. Let’s keep sharpening our saws and supporting each other every day!

Visual Arts SPARK Day – A Celebration of Creativity!

We brought together a group of talented Stage 1 students from six different schools for an inspiring Visual Arts SPARK Day filled with colour, imagination, and artistic exploration. Students dove into the world of Vincent van Gogh, studying the elements of painting and the expressive style of Impressionism. They learned how to use the wet-on-wet technique to create dreamy, textured artworks just like the masters.

The day also included a fun and mindful session on Zen Tangles, where students explored patterns and linework to create calming, intricate designs. One of the highlights was a deep look into the human eye, where students learned how to draw eyes with detail and emotion, just like professional artists!

Every student was beautifully behaved, fully engaged, and radiated creativity and passion throughout the day. It was a joy to see their confidence grow as they experimented, expressed themselves, and celebrated the magic of visual arts.
