Hello Everyone,
Upstander Award
At the end of last term, we had a student nominated for the Upstander Award.
The student stood up to protect a friend from disrespectful behaviour. This was done in a subtle but effective manner. We are very proud of what the student did and were pleased to present the award. This student requested to have their award done privately.
SWPBS
Being a SWPBS school, at the end of each term, we send our data around major behaviour incidents to the Department in the form this triangle tool. It is pleasing to see the impact of the re-implementation of SWPBS through the school has had to date, especially with the increase in the percentage of students with 1 or no behaviour Incidents (the green section of the triangle).
The left triangle demonstrates the theoretical percentages that is expected, with the right triangle showing our data:

Every student who is at school, and in their classroom, before the bell (9am) will have their name added to the class attendance box. So, if they are present on time, every day of the week, they will have 5 entries into the raffle.

Australian Mathematics Competition
Next week, selected students from Years 3–6 will be participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). This is one of the largest mathematics competitions in the world, giving students the opportunity to apply their problem-solving and reasoning skills.
Students who have been chosen to participate have already received a note and consent form. These forms must be returned by Friday, 1st August to confirm participation.
We are very proud of our students who are taking on this challenge and look forward to seeing them showcase their mathematical thinking.
2026 Foundation Enrolments
Enrolments for Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Deer Park West Primary School are still open!
Starting school is a big milestone in a child’s life, and we are here to support families every step of the way. At Deer Park West Primary, we are proud to offer a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.
As we prepare to welcome our 2026 Foundation students, we’re also continuing our strong partnerships with local kindergartens to ensure a smooth and positive transition to school. We’re working with kinder teachers to plan visits, share helpful information, and help children feel confident and excited about starting school.
Throughout this term, we are excited to welcome children from our local kindergartens for school visits. These sessions give our future students the chance to explore our learning spaces, experience life at school, and meet some of the friendly teachers and students who will be part of their journey next year.
If you have a child starting school next year, or know someone who does, please contact our school office for more information about the enrolment process. We’re here to help make this transition a positive experience for every child and family.
Kind regards,
Joshua Fielding
