References and information requests

On a regular basis parents request information and references from staff at our school. This might be a reference for a scholarship, or it might be information about a student’s progress at school. Whilst we are very happy to support our families, please follow the process so that our staff have time to make a considered and accurate report.

To ensure this is a smooth process please direct all requests to the office. This can be done face to face at the office or via email. We will then follow up with the appropriate staff members.

Please ensure that you provide the following information including:

  • Name of student
  • Who the information needs to be directed to (eg. name of secondary school, medical practitioner etc)
  • What is the purpose of the request (eg. reference for an academic or other scholarship, proof of attendance/enrolment, information for  a speech or other assessments)
  • Due date (is there are date  the information is needed by?)

Please note that requests made on the day cannot be accommodated. Teachers are teaching your children all day and have meetings after school, leadership also may be offsite at Department of Education forums, so we will need time to follow up.

Thank you in advance.

Principals Day - Friday 1st August

Tomorrow, the state celebrates Principals Day. On this day Assistant Principals and Principals are acknowledged for their leadership in schools and their communities.

As we mark Principal’s Day on August 1st, I’ve taken a moment to reflect on the incredible privilege it is to serve as the principal of our wonderful school. I still remember feeling a mix of pride, excitement, and nerves when I was first appointed to this role. No principal ever underestimates the responsibility that comes with this position. It is a role we take seriously and approach with deep passion and commitment, always striving to do our very best for our students, staff, and school community.

I have loved leading Deer Park West Primary School for 12 years and I am proud of everything we have accomplished be it refurbishment of the junior toilet block, updating the school with new carpets and furniture, construction of the environment area, building the capacity of our staff and parents or the outstanding academic achievements reflected in NAPLAN data and the number of scholarships our year 6 students are granted each year, all of these are something we can all be proud of.

I would like to thank Ms. Scott and Mr. Fielding, our current Assistant Principals, as well as all the previous Assistant Principals who have assisted me over this time. They are an integral part of the leadership of the school and its success, and their efforts cannot be understated.

As part of my ongoing efforts to foster strong leadership and shared vision, our school captains have been invited to join the leadership team meeting on Monday, August 4th. They will participate in strategic planning and discussions that help shape the direction of our school. We are proud to include their voices and perspectives in this important process.

Thank you for your continued support each year. It is truly a privilege to lead this school and one I do not take lightly.

Kind Regards,
