TEAM VIC NEWS

Massive shoutout to Francesca T (6LB), who has successfully made the Team Vic 12 Years & Under Girls Football (Soccer) team! She will represent SSV at the School Sport Australia Championships, taking place in Ballarat from Saturday 25 October to Thursday, 30 October 2025.

This is an incredible achievement, especially considering Francesca progressed through a rigorous trial process consisting of four stages — a true testament not only to her talent but also to her unwavering grit and determination.

We are so proud of you, Francesca, and can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future. Well done! 💪🏼

SSV STATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Arlo C (5ND) for his efforts at last week’s SSV Primary Cross Country Championships — placing him among the top 80 runners in Victoria for his age group!

The entire Greenhills community is immensely proud of Arlo’s accomplishments — both on the day of the event and throughout his journey to reach this point, which included qualifying through three previous stages of competition.

We’re looking forward to seeing what you can do during the upcoming school athletics season.  Well done! 💪🏼

COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to Marley F (3TW), Jacob K (3JC), Callum H (4DS), Toby W (3JC) & Darcy R (3MH), along with their Greenhills Basketball Club teammates, who won the Diamond Valley B1 Grade U/10 Boys Grand Final 40-29!

A special shoutout to Marley, who was awarded MVP for the game!

Well done! 💪🏼

Congratulations to Jo E (6RM), who played their 50th game for St Mary’s Greensborough JFC last weekend.

It’s always a special moment running through the banner — especially when it’s being held up by your older siblings, ex-Greenhills students and current St Mary’s Senior FC players, Matilda and Tom.

Here’s to many more to come — keep kicking goals!

Well done! 💪🏼

Congratulations to Timmy R (1JR) who is graduating to the next level at the Mount Hotham Ski School. Fantastic effort.

Well done! 💪

If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.

Celebrating Australian Primary Principals Day

On Friday 1 August 2025, communities across Australia are encouraged to celebrate Australian Primary Principals Day, a moment to recognise and thank the exceptional leaders at the heart of our schools.

James Penson is a great principal, he is compassionate, educated, empathetic, purposeful and puts the students and staff in the forefront of all he does.

He is at every event, running with the students, cheering them on with a double thumbs up and is always approachable and considerate.

Thanks for being a great (Generous, Respectful, Encouraging, Amazing, Tall) Principal James. We are very lucky to have you.

Janine Hough is one of the most emotive, considerate, thoughtful, responsive and kind people I know. She is there for the students when times are tough.

Oh, and parents as well.

Brad Ryan is committed, as my partner Nat said, and I quote. *During Covid, when I saw that man blend a whole banana, peel and all, for some food learning, or craziness, and chug that whole thing, I knew about his commitment to learning and haven't questioned it since."

This Friday, Choose Gratitude Primary Principals Day is not just a date on the calendar, it’s an opportunity to stand beside those who consistently show up for our children.

This term, come and visit The Kirsty Stule Library every Tuesday from

3:30pm – 4:15pm for our Open Library Afternoon!

Starting on Tuesday 29th July the library will be open after school from 3:30pm until 4:15pm for parents and carers to come in with students and enjoy our library space.

You’re welcome to choose a book from the shelves to read together or choose one of the Premiers Reading Challenge books from our collection so you can keep adding to your tally. Come on in, choose a book and find a nice little nook to sit in to enjoy your book together.

You can also borrow and return books during this time, so feel free to bring along books that are ready to be returned, so you can choose another to take home.

Jen Ellis will be in the library during this time, so if you have any library questions or just need a book recommendation, she will be very happy to help you.
