Welcome to Term 3

Teaching and Learning in Italian

Foundation

Speaking & Listening 

This term students will continue to learn the alphabet and days of the week. They will also use basic greetings to encourage oral language with peers. The main topic will be My Family, students will make a booklet to share at home.

Year 1 

Reading & Writing 

This term students will be encouraged to read in Italian paying close attention to correct pronunciation and intonation. The main topic will be Family, whereby students create a booklet to take home to share. They will use adjectives in their writing to create sentences and identify accents on certain letters. In addition, each week students will describe the weather in Italian.

 

Year 2

Reading & writing 

This term students will be encouraged to read in Italian paying close attention to correct pronunciation and intonation. The main topic will be Family, whereby students create a booklet to take home to share. They will use adjectives in their writing to create sentences and identify accents on certain letters. In addition, each week students describe the weather in Italian.

 

Year 3 & 4

Reading & Writing 

This term students will be encouraged to read in Italian paying close attention to correct pronunciation and intonation. Students will learn new adjectives and use these in sentences to describe people when creating their booklets. These booklets will be taken home to share with family. I encourage students to use this opportunity to read in Italian at home.

Year 5 

Reading & Writing 

This term students will use a different genre` in their reading and writing. They will make party invitations for peers and share them in class. The main topic will be Family, whereby students use new adjectives to construct sentences and describe their family. Students will make a book to take home. I encourage them to use this opportunity to read in Italian at home.

Year 6

Reading & Writing

This term students will use a different genre` in their reading and writing. They will receive a letter from the teacher and respond in writing. They will read the letter and ensure they have an understanding for comprehension purposes. Students will also do a project on Italian culture. They are to select a topic of their choice, research their topic and present it to class.
