Dear Families,
Today we remember and thank God for the wonderful Miss Jackson who passed away on Monday evening - the Feast of St John Vianney.
Liz was a staff member at SJV for 35 years and her love for everyone connected with SJV was equal to any.
As many of us know her sense of humour, ability to tell a story and the joy and laughter she bought to students and staff alike over many years made her one of a kind.
Always so generous of heart and caring, Miss J's teaching expertise and her willingness to take on various roles made her the ideal staff member.
Each year Liz would like her class to be nominated to host the St John Vianney's Feast Day Mass such was the value of the celebration!
Over the coming days and weeks we keep Liz' immediate and extended family and close friends in our hearts and prayers.
May Miss J rest in peace - a life so well lived!
Funeral details as follows:
Liz's funeral will take place on Wednesday, 13th August at 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney's Parish Church.
School will operate but please note this will be with a skeleton staff. Many staff wish to attend both the funeral and wake. Classes at the school will not operate as usual on Wednesday. There will be no swimming Program or Specialist Program. There will be large combined classes with students involved in a range of supervised activities.
Tomorrow we will send home a form asking you to indicate whether your child will be coming to school on Wednesday 13th August as this will assist us in determining staff requirements. If you wish to take your child to the funeral please note that there will be huge numbers attending. Students can only attend with their parent. Camp Australia will continue to operate.
The swimming session originally scheduled for Wednesday, 13th August will now be held on Friday, 29th August. All other swimming days remain the same.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we honor Liz’s memory.
Swimming
Next week we will begin Year 3-6 Swimming Program will begin at Aqua star at Haileybury College.
A YELLOW swimming cap is required. There are some available with you class teacher should you require e. The swimming session originally scheduled for Wednesday, 13th August will now be held on Friday, 29th August.

Empathy Award
This week Zoe from grade 3/4 TG won an Empathy award for being a compassionate and caring student who always offers help and support to others without being asked. Her kindness, empathy and quiet leadership shines through every day!
Carpark / Parking
Please ensure safety at all times. Walk your children into the school grounds.
Be patient and respectful and obedient to all signs and speed limits.
Please be watchful of toddlers and students who may be crossing roads, exiting or getting into vehicles.
Concert Attendance Notice
Our school concert is a special event that celebrates the hard work and talents of all our students. It is an expectation that every child participates as part of their class performance.
Students have been rehearsing their items as a team and every child’s role is vital to the success of the performance.
If your child is unable to attend because your family is away on vacation, please notify the Office or your Teacher as soon as possible and provide the reason for their absence.
TICKETS: On sale in Term 3 (date TBC) – Tickets are $25 each.
Performing students do not require a ticket.
Ticket prices have increased slightly this year due to SJV engaging the Kinect 2 Dance group, who are supporting us in our concert preparation.
The concert will be professionally recorded by a new company, StageFright. A high-quality video will be available for families to purchase, further details will be provided in the newsletter later in the term.
