CONFRO CHAMPIONS!

We are so proud to announce that our St Mary’s CONFRO team WON the 2025 Confraternity Men Of League Challenge shield!

After four days of fierce competition in Rockhampton, and out of over 60 teams, our boys dug deep and came away victorious with a thrilling 20 - 16 Grand Final win over St John’s, Roma. It was a week of highs and lows, but the team stayed committed to our processes, stood strong together, and never wavered—a true display of heart and brotherhood.

Shout-outs:

  • Our Middles were exceptional, laying the foundation and standing up, winning the battles against the opposing big men.
  • Our Halves capitalised on this beautifully; they were silky and provided the Edges with some quality opportunities to pile on the points.

This result was a full squad effort— all 21 players played their part, and every contribution mattered.

Thank you to the parents who travelled or supported us from afar. Your encouragement made a real difference. And to our amazing staff and support crew, your work behind the scenes did not go unnoticed. The boys are incredibly lucky to have you in their corner.

CAIRNS RUNNING FESTIVAL SUCCESS

Congratulations to all our students, staff, alumni, and families who took part in the Cairns Running Festival last Sunday!

St Mary’s was proudly named the largest School Team at the event, with 55 runners representing us across five events! It was a sea of green and maroon out on the course and a fantastic display of school spirit and determination.

Special Highlights:

  • Mischa (Year 11) smashed the full marathon (42.2km) — an incredible achievement!
  • 22 Run Squad students competed and 100% either ran a PB or conquered their longest distance ever!
  • Yuan (Year 9) completed his first half marathon (21.1km) in just 1 hour 26 minutes, placing 26th overall out of 1000+ runners, averaging 15km/h!

We are beyond proud of every runner who took on the challenge, you’ve inspired our whole community.
