YEAR 8 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 2

Subject Expo - Thank You

Thank you to the many families who attended the Subject Expo. It was a great opportunity for students and parents/carers to speak directly with Heads of Department and gather useful information about Year 9 subject selections for 2026.

For those who were unable to attend, the 2026 Subject Selection Handbook is available on the College website, or feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Staying Connected Through Attendance

As we reach the midpoint of the school year, it is a good time to reinforce the value of regular attendance. Being at school each day helps students stay on track with their learning, build strong friendships, and feel connected to the school community. Missing just one day every two weeks adds up to four weeks of lost learning over the year, which can make it harder to keep up and feel confident in class. If your child is experiencing any difficulties that may be affecting their attendance, please reach out. We are always here to help and work together to support their well-being and progress.

This Week in SEL: Subject Selection and SMART Goals

During this week’s SEL session, Mrs Ross (Assistant Principal, Learning) will speak with the Year 8 cohort about the subject selection process for Year 9. Following this, students will return to their classrooms to learn about SMART goals and set some personal goals based on their Semester 1 Report Card. This session is designed to help students reflect on their progress and make informed, thoughtful decisions about their subjects for next year.
