Caring Learning Growing: Every Child Every Day

Dear Families,

This week our Grade 3 - 6 children attended the MPower and Revved up workshops run by Stride. We were also able to offer a parent workshop and we thank those families who took the time to attend.

Navigating emotions and relationships is a big part of children's learning. As a school, we know that the wellbeing of our children is the key to positive learning outcomes.

Relationships and social emotional learning are part of the Personal And Social Capabilities Curriculum.  As a school we use programs such as Respectful Relationships, Zones of Regulation, Resilience Project, Bounce Back, ReLATe as well as our new partnership with Real Schools. Explicit lessons are taught on a weekly basis.

There are lots of wonderful articles about relationships, social emotional development and wellbeing on School TV which can be found on our school's website.

We also have our ongoing partnership with Uniting Wimmera which sees Kellie working in our school 3 days a week offering support to children and running the Seasons program.'

If you ever have any questions about any of these please pop in and have a chat.

We must also thank Uniting Wimmera for their support of the MPower and Revved Up programs. Their support enables the growth of a strong and resilient community.

Some comments from the Grade 5/6 children about MPowered and Revved Up were:

'I thought it was a good experience for people to learn what makes their friends revved up  and to know some exercises to help calm down.'

'It kept me interested and the video of the snake and the saw was a good example to me about how to control your anger.'

'I thought it was a good activity to do and I'm sure it has made us have more control of what we say and do.'

'I enjoyed it and it was very fun the whole time and I felt welcome and safe to share.'

Have the best of weekends.

Louise
