Forest School
It’s been a wet and windy week in Forest School but we’ve dodged the showers and kept up the good work!
We talked about Indigenous sense of place this week and lots of students could closely relate to having precious places that are very meaningful in our lives.
Lots of students continued with the hammering and sawing duties with no fixed purpose in mind and others helped put together insect hotels for the Foundation students to use, to observe minibeast behaviours in our Middle Gully habitat.
We used the leftover charcoal from the Winter Solstice bonfire to create some masterpieces and were amazed that it seems to be just as good as the Art room charcoal for drawing.
We found some real “wild ones” amongst the grade one and two classes (see the photos) and enjoyed singing our favourite Forest School song, “Wild Ones” in honour of our new painted pals.
Several of the senior students made the most of the explosion of lawn daisies to make daisy chains and their interesting speculation about why the daisies are so prolific at the moment was amazing to hear. Through connection, engagement and rich conversations their enquiring minds just keep learning and learning in Forest School.
