Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Book Week
We are excited to remind you that our Book Week Parade will take place this Friday at 9:15 am on the basketball court. This is always a highlight of the year, and we can't wait to see all the creative and colourful costumes the students will be wearing.
Please make sure your child is ready to join in the fun by arriving on time and dressed as their favourite book character. Parents and family members are welcome to join us to enjoy the parade and cheer on the students.
Mobile Phones in School
At Macedon Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe and focused learning environment for all our students. As part of this commitment, we would like to remind you of our Mobile Phone Policy, which requires that all student mobile phones be stored in the office during school hours.
Why This Policy Matters
The presence of mobile phones at school can be a significant distraction for students, impacting their ability to engage fully in their learning. Research shows that mobile phones can interfere with concentration, reduce the quality of classroom interaction, and detract from face-to-face social experiences with peers. By storing phones in the office, we help ensure that students can focus on their studies and participate fully in school activities without unnecessary interruptions.
Key Points of the Policy
Before School: Students are required to turn off their mobile phones and hand them into the office at the start of the school day. This ensures that phones are securely stored and not accessible during school hours.
During School Hours: Mobile phones are not permitted to be used during school hours. This includes recess and lunch times. We encourage students to engage in activities and conversations that promote social interaction and physical activity during breaks.
End of the Day: Students may collect their mobile phones from the office at the end of the school day. This ensures that they have access to their phones for communication purposes after school.
Parental Support is Key
We ask for your continued support in reinforcing this policy at home. Please remind your child of the importance of handing in their phone at the start of each school day. Your cooperation is crucial in helping us maintain a learning environment that is free from distractions and conducive to your child’s success.
In Case of Emergencies
If you need to contact your child during school hours, please call the school office directly. We will ensure that any important messages are delivered promptly.
Thank you for your understanding and support of this policy. Together, we can ensure that Macedon Primary School remains a place where learning is prioritised, and distractions are minimised.
Welcome Sasha
We are thrilled to welcome Sasha Howell to our Macedon Primary School community as our new Educational Support Worker. Sasha comes to us from Brunswick South and brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. She is very excited to start working with our students and looks forward to supporting their learning journey. Please join us in giving Sasha a warm welcome!
School Uniform Reminder
We would like to remind our school community of the importance of adhering to Macedon Primary School’s Student Dress Code. As a school, we take pride in fostering a sense of belonging and community, and our uniform plays a significant role in this.
School Uniform Expectations
All students are required to wear the school uniform as outlined in our Dress Code Policy. This ensures that our students are dressed appropriately for school activities, reduces competition based on clothing, and enhances the school's identity within the community.
Please note that local sports uniforms, or any other attire with alternative logos or distinguishing features, are not acceptable substitutes for the school uniform. Students are expected to wear the full school uniform when traveling to and from school, during school hours, and at all school-related activities.
Support and Compliance
If a student is out of uniform, they may be asked to change into a compliant item provided by the school. Continued non-compliance may result in further action, including communication with parents to address the issue.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that all students adhere to the uniform policy, contributing to a positive and focused learning environment for everyone.
