On Friday 23 August, St John's students engaged in a Book Week Celebration Day full of friendship, family and fun. The day began with a Book Week Parade well attended by both grandparents and families. Sophie, Mae, Diego and Maximus, our Year 6 Creative Arts SAT Team proudly introduced each class as students paraded in their costumes around the basketball court.
Grandparents were then welcomed into the classrooms, where grandparents shared their favourite book with their grandchildren. It was wonderful to see wide smiles and hear laughter coming from the classrooms as families shared this special time together. Grandparents then attended a morning tea hosted by the St John's PIC (Partners In Community).
The Book Week celebrations also included an author visit from Kym Lardner. Kym Lardner was an entertaining author / illustrator who shared his creative and imaginative take on the world.
The day concluded with celebrating the fabulous array of costumes through awarding certificates to the most creative Book Week costumes. A busy but fun day!!
Hi St John’s students,
I am writing to you from Canada and wanted to wish you a Happy Book Week and Grandparents Day!
I hope Kym Lardner has been really funny and I am sure your Grandparent’s would have thoroughly enjoyed their visit this morning and I hope they enjoyed the Book Fair as well.
I know your teachers will have planned lots of fun activities today and I can’t wait to see the ‘pizza’ display when I get back to school.
I have done so much hiking in Canada and I have seen squirrels, chipmunks and elk but luckily not any ‘real’ bears! I have bought a cute little bear book for the library for you to read too.
I hope you enjoy the photos and I hope today helps to foster a love of reading and magic!
Love Mrs Doupè
