Principal's Message

Ms Reynolds

GEPS shines for visitors!

Last week 20 visiting teachers, executive and principals came to our school as part of our Instructional Rounds network. Staff from Old Guildford PS, Burwood PS, Enfield PS, Strathfield North PS and Vaucluse PS visited classrooms and learnt about GEPS.

The GEPS team (pictured above) included Ms Ballouk and Miss Alsalimy and we worked with 4 fabulous students who helped share our GEPS values and learning processes with the group (Mustafa, Xiya, Jayda and Sitayesh). Together we showcased some 4Cs processes (like bus stop, popcorn, turn and talk and meccano) while giving the visitors a taste of the way we focus on student agency in learning.

Visitor comments included:

Students were extremely respectful towards teachers and were the same back to students - such great relationships!

A really positive vibe across the school.

Clear routines allowed students to talk in small groups without the noise disrupting others

Classroom displays reflected learning and thinking - not just decoration.

I was very proud to highlight the hard work of all of the staff here at GEPS as well as the way our students are becoming independent and resilient young learners.

Dance dress rehearsal

2 of the organisers of the Our Spectacular came to watch our dance group in their full dress rehearsal last week. It was a nerve-wracking time for the dance group - but they were wonderful! The "judges" commented on how much this group has grown and how original the ideas, choreography and costumes are!

Can't wait to see them perform on the night (17 September). If you can't make it to the Opera House to see them - I hear they will be performing at our whole school Year of the Dragon Performance day (25 September).

SASS Week

This week was a time to acknowledge and celebrate the work of our school admin and support staff. This team, often working behind the scenes, helps keep our school running so smoothly! Some work with computers, some with books, some work with children and some with tools and lawn mowers!!! Thank you to our whole SASS team!
