Classroom Teams News

Foundation News

We have been really busy in the Foundation classrooms over the past few weeks. As we prepared for our very first school concert, students have also continued to spend time with their senior buddies aswell. Our buddies helped us to create an amazing gift for our Dads for Father's Day.

Another highlight for us was Book Week. Everyone came dressed up in a book character costume and we got to participate in an amazing parade with our Grandparents and families watching. Our grandparents then came back to our classroom to particiapte in an activity. We created some beautiful handprint flower and bee pictures, which completed our learning unit about 'Bees and Living Things' this term.

3/4 News

In the 3/4 classrooms, we have been actively engaged in developing our skills in reading and writing both Persuasive and Explanation texts. The students have been focusing on crafting their writing purposefully, ensuring they use precise and topic-specific vocabulary to strengthen their arguments or clarify their explanations. Students are learning how to structure persuasive texts with strong opening statements, supported reasons and examples, and powerful conclusions that aim to influence their audience. In Explanation writing, students are building their ability to clearly describe processes and provide logical sequences of information, ensuring the reader can understand complex topics with ease.

In our Numeracy lessons, we have been focusing on identifying and interpreting different types of maps. Students are learning how to read map features such as scales, legends, and grid references, allowing them to accurately locate places and measure distances of different places. We have looked at measuring the area of an object and have used estimation and square centimetres.

In our Geography lessons, we are learning about Australia and the seven continents. We are exploring the unique countries, cultures, and natural features that make each continent. Through this exploration, students will gain a deeper appreciation of the world's global landscape and interconnectedness.

Toy Making

Our Grade 5/6 students have been having a blast with their science unit on forces! They've used recyclable materials to create all sorts of cool toys and games that show off ideas like push and pull, gravity, speed, and friction. Over the past few weeks, they've been busy building these fun projects and now they’re excited to share them with their Prep buddies. The best part? They'll get to teach their younger friends about forces in a fun and hands-on way. The Grade 5/6 team can't wait to show off their creations and share what they’ve learned with their Prep pals!
