Literacy Week

At Pakenham Hills

Foundation Students

In Literacy, the Preps are integrating different texts with the topic  'Different Families'

  • What stories do other people tell about the past?
  • What is my history and how do I know?

Students investigate the different structures of families today, families in the past and families from different places. 

 

The Preps are also focusing on the  texts:

 

                                                  Tom Tom by Rosemary Sullivan and Dee Huxley

                                                                                                and  

                                                  Same, Same but Different Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw.

Grade 1 and 2 students:

In Literacy, the grade 1 and 2 students are learning about Ancient China. The are also writing a narrative based on the book "Magic Paintbrush".

Grade 3 and 4 students:

In literacy, the grade 3 and 4 students are continuing to develop their persuasive writing and reading skills. They are working on constructing and analysing persuasive texts. By Week 8, the focus will transition to explanation texts.

Grade 5 and 6 students:

In literacy, the grade 5 and 6 students have been looking at different types of poems! Some different types of poems we have already looked at include acrostic, haiku and diamente poems.
