2024 SECONDARY HOUSE CHESS COMPETITION
By Jenny Simmons (Secondary Teacher)
The Secondary House Chess competition was held in the first few weeks of this term spanning over three lunchtimes. We had 24 keen chess players participating. It was a tight competition with the final results determined by the outcome of the very last game played!
Final results were:
1. Sherbrooke: 18.5 points
2. Yarra: 18 points
3. Marunari: 16.5 points
4. Wattle: 10 points
Congratulations to all students who participated. A special mention to Ollie M in Year 7 who won all 6 games played!
SHINE - ART EXHIBITION INVITATION COMPETITION
By Jacinta Leed (Secondary Teacher)
The Primary and Secondary Art Exhibition is coming up on Wednesday 9 October. The theme for the exhibition is ‘Shine’ as the aim is to shine a spotlight on the amazing artwork students have produced so far throughout the year at BHCS.
Students were invited to submit an artwork based on this theme to be used for the invitations for the exhibition.
I am excited to announce Mikaela Seskis, Year 12, as the winner of the competition with her beautiful watercolor and gouache painting.
Some other notable art entries are shown in the photos below.
We look forward to hosting our school community at the our exhibition soon, stay tuned for the all the details!
